Climbing Threads is made up of a collaborative community of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. As such, being a sustainable company is a logical and compassionate choice- we want to give back to a world that has given us so much. It is our goal to be earth-friendly in all we do. By consistently making small choices to protect the environment, we are able to have a huge impact.

how We make a difference
With each step:
Our Sweet Threads
Our signature carabiner is stitched with a line of 100% recycled embroidery thread from Madeira, a company based out of Germany, with locations in the US. This line of thread is made of 100% post-consumer waste PET plastic bottles using an energy-saving production process. Madeira has a code of conduct that we like; including treating employees with respect and integrity, no matter their race, age, or gender. Madeira’s ensures each employee receives a fair wage and benefits in consideration of each country's policies. Madeira protects the safety and health of each employee by having a production process that is environmentally friendly, holding their products to the highest safety standards, and always recycling when possible.
Branding Tags + Ink
Our 100%-recycled branding product tags are printed through Greenerprinter. We cut down our water usage by 75% by using Greenerprinter’s 100% post-consumer-waste paper. Greenerprinter uses soy and vegetable based inks (opposed to typical petroleum based inks) which are less harmful to the environment. Greenprinter also uses carbon neutral shipping, which we love, as it offsets the carbon emissions. Greenprinter also does their best to limit their landfill use through inventory control, and recycling.
What
Makes Us
Sustainable?
Small Batches
All of our products are produced in small batches. This reduces unnecessary waste from excess inventory. This may also mean that some of our products may be temporarily sold out for a time- we appreciate your patience as we do what we can to be sustainable in our production processes!

Packaging
To package our sweet threads, we use products from Ecoenclose. Ecoenclose is an innovative company that is constantly working towards creating better, more sustainable types of packaging. We primarily ship orders in 100% recycled poly mailers, which are made in the US! If your package isn’t coming in one of these, then it is most likely coming from other repurposed packaging–the care package our roommate got from their mom. If we can reuse it, we do it.

Shipping
There is no way around needing to ship products. And with transportation comes carbon emissions. So, how do we improve here? We use a shipping company, Sendle, that allows our product shipping to be 100% carbon neutral. What does that mean exactly? Well, with each package that is sent, Sendle does their part to ensure they are preserving and restoring ecosystems. Sendle does this first by calculating the highest emission of each package. They then use a portion of the cost from each shipment to fund sustainability projects. This allows Sendle to support a variety of initiatives that do good for the planet, such as planting 62.7 million, yes, million, tree seedlings in one year.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
Help us turn a once-linear production chain into a circle by donating old garments. If a Climbing Threads garment has been well loved and is ready for a new home, we encourage you to donate it to a second hand shop, such as Goodwill. Garments that do not initially sell at Goodwill are sold to other businesses, upcycled or recycled. At this stage, any unsold garments go to textile recyclers. These textile recyclers turn your old garments into the materials that OUR products at Climbing Threads are made of. Help us bring these materials full circle.
